April Horoscopes

Welcome to the most eventful month (astrologically speaking) of 2024. It’s a month of expansive realizations and breakthroughs. Are you ready for it? Surrender to the possibilities.

On April 1, Mercury stations retrograde at 27˚13’ Aries, adding to the already intense time leading up to the eclipse. This retrograde cycle brings up past arguments or challenges in which we may have felt weak or insecure. Because Aries relates to polarity and fighting the good fight, opposite sides of a conflict may more deeply uphold their positions, refusing to budge.

The Aries Solar Eclipse on April 8 features a stellium in Aries with the North Node, Chiron, Eris, and Mercury all moving through the warrior sign. The Moon and Sun are conjunct Chiron, adding depth and emotion to the already intense energy of this eclipse.

This lunation emphasizes individuality and the pioneering spirit that moves toward change. The Mercury–Eris conjunction reminds us of a quote in Cassandra Speaks: When Women Are the Storytellers, the Human Story Changes by Elizabeth Lesser, Do no harm and take no s@#t. We’ll be full of vigor that needs an outlet for expression.

The Sabian Symbol for 19-20˚ Aries reads, a young girl feeding birds in winter. The themes suggest new beginnings abound, whether we welcome them or not. Change is coming, and it’s best to be intentional about goal-setting so you don’t feel lost. Dane Rudyear writes of this symbolic meaning, “the transmutation of life into love.”

On April 10, Mars conjoins Saturn and asks us to dedicate ourselves to someone or something. With this transit, we take careful action steps toward our goals and objectives. Mars and Saturn in Pisces could mean more news about water rights and water-related policy.

Or we could read news stories about a “two-ocean war” or the environmental consequence of nuclear war on our oceans. As Mars meets Saturn, we will likely learn more about the ongoing conflict in the Red Sea.

The Sun enters Taurus on April 19, and we welcome an eventful Taurus season. With Mars in a sextile aspect to Jupiter and Uranus on April 19, we stand ready to welcome the gifts available to us, aligning with one of the more consequential transits of the year: the Jupiter–Uranus conjunction on April 20

This transit occurs once every 13-14 years, and innovative ideas are born through intellectual breakthroughs, though they take a few years to form in visible ways. Jupiter's influence expands and magnifies. It's associated with luck and opportunity but can also relate to an inflated sense of what's possible. Uranus is the planet of progress, change, and inspired visions. It's also the planet of rebellion—pushing beyond the limits. It's a visionary influence but can feel disruptive if we resist change.

On April 23, the Scorpio Full Moon shines on our psyches' dark and hidden parts. This lunation features a square aspect to Pluto in Aquarius, forming a t-square. We could feel an all-consuming urge to create something new, whether trying the latest recipe, starting to write a book, or nurturing an idea into development. Focus is a keyword with this lunation.

Mercury stations direct on April 25, and then Mars conjoins Neptune in Pisces on April 28, gracing us with compassion for those with whom we’ve been in conflict. Then, Venus enters its home sign of Taurus, and Mars enters its home sign of Aries on April 29 and 30, respectively. Our relationships come back online after Mercury retrograde. April’s catharsis breaks us open, pulling us into our hearts.
