Pisces Full Moon

Pisces Full Moon

The September 13 Full Moon happens in the water sign, Pisces. It’s also a Full Moon happening on Friday the 13th, which is the first time this has happened in 20 years. The Full Moon happening closest to the Equinox is called the Harvest Moon because this is traditionally a time of abundance when the summer crops bear fruit, and we reap the harvest.

As you think about the Harvest Moon, think about this for your life, too. This is the last quarter of the year when we have the last chance to fulfill the goals and intentions we set in January. It’s also a time to assess what isn’t working in your life and initiate changes accordingly.

Pisces is the sign of spiritual insights, intuition, and supernatural phenomenon. The Moon in Pisces is counterbalanced by the Sun and most personal planets in earth sign, Virgo, the sign of details, discernment, and order. This combination could mean finding a balance between the spiritual and practical. In your everyday life, you could have profound insights and realizations. Then, you will need to find ways to ground those spiritual revelations in the very practical here and now.

This is a Full Moon for self-care, too. The Moon in Pisces urges you to heal some aspect of your life, physically, spiritually, or emotionally. Emotions could surface, but they should be sensed, felt, and not suppressed. The Sun and personal planets in Virgo invite you to explore alternative modalities for some of your health concerns.

September Horoscopes

September Horoscopes

We start the back-to-school season with the perfect planetary alignment. Mercury, Venus, Mars, and the Sun are all in analytical Virgo, and they will apply aspects to Uranus early in the month. You will be motivated to accomplish most of the items on your to-do-list, thanks to Virgo’s work ethic, ability to tune out distractions, and time management skills. You could also become inspired by a bright new idea or pursue a creative endeavor.

You could overdo it if you’re not careful, as the Virgo planets will square Jupiter.  You want to keep stress levels down. Think of working in small increments, one thing at a time.

Watch your health this month. The personal planets in Virgo, Jupiter in Sagittarius, and Neptune in Pisces, all relate with one another throughout the first part of the month, making us all more sensitive. Boost your immune system and use Virgo’s discipline to eat a healthier diet. Consider seeing a naturopathic doctor, acupuncturist, herbalist, or healer.

The Full Moon on Friday, the 13th, in Pisces could be an emotional one. Your intuition could be heightened, allowing you to know what’s not working in your life. Let it go! Realize this is a foggy, unclear Full Moon. Pause and give any new insights time to settle before making any moves.

On the 14thVenus enters her sign, Libra, helping relationships, social interactions, and most importantly, self-love. Start with self-care.

On September 21, use your intuition to discern truth from fiction. We have a third and final Jupiter - Neptune square. Reflect on what was happening in your life on January 13 and June 16, as these storylines will draw to a close. The nature of Jupiter is expansive, larger-than-life, and generous. It magnifies anything it comes in contact with, in this case, Neptune. Neptune symbolizes dreams, visions, and ideals, but also, it represents illusion, confusion, and disillusionment. You may question what’s real or not during the few days before and after this transit perfects. Make sure your news sources are credible and avoid gossip.

Saturn Return- The Start of a New Chapter

Saturn Return- The Start of a New Chapter

When a transiting planet comes back to the same degree it was at the time of your birth, it opens a new chapter in your life. A cycle begins, with fresh growth opportunities and new life lessons to experience. The nature of that planet determines what those will be; the movement of the planet determines the length of that cycle.

Think about your birthday. Each year has a certain vibe, and often the events that unfold around your birthday can establish the main themes of the following 365 days. This is your Solar Return, and it happens every year, as it takes the Sun 365 days to return to the degree it was at the time of your birth.

The personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars) move more quickly and make their returns sooner than Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. The Moon returns once a month, the Sun once a year, Mercury and Venus a little less than a year, and Mars every two years. The more distant planets orbit the sun more slowly. As a result, these planetary returns can mean big changes in your life. At times, they may even feel like crisis points, as you close one chapter and start a new one. They can also mark significant turning points in your life.

The Saturn Return happens every 29.5 years, and it is one of the most significant planetary returns. The choices you make during your Saturn Return year will have lasting consequences, for better or worse, for years to come.

Sun in Virgo - August 23 - September 23

Sun in Virgo - August 23 - September 23

When you think of the sign of Virgo, think of the Vestal Virgins who dedicated themselves to the goddess Vesta. These women were the only ones of the time who were agents of their own lives. They didn’t belong to a husband or father; they had more choices than other women of the time.

Because of this association, Virgo is aligned with ritual and rite. They often incorporate purification rituals into their day-to-day lives, like exfoliating their face with specific products or washing their hands a certain way before eating.

Virgo can choose, and she does. Some might call Virgo picky, but really, Virgo is a sign of discernment. It can seem perfectionistic at times because it has a refined sense of order and high standards. It separates the wheat from the chaff. Virgo doesn’t like to waste time or energy.

Mercury, as the ruling planet, gives Earth-sign Virgo a more mental quality than other earth signs (Taurus and Capricorn). Virgo has analytical abilities but can become stuck as a result.

Virgo seeks order and organization. This helps them have a sense of control in their lives. Even messy Virgo’s will have one or two pristine areas of the home.

Virgo rules health and alternative healing, food manufacturing, and wellness.

Virgo is an earth sign, which makes them quite practical. You can count on a Virgo to stay on schedule or organize a lunch date.

Aquarius Full Moon - August 15, 2019

Aquarius Full Moon - August 15, 2019

The Moon in Aquarius encourages us to think way outside of the box to solve any issues that come up in our lives. Aquarius is inventive, and you might come up with new ideas or see aspects of your life from a different perspective. Aquarius is also the sign of community and friendships. You could discover ways to become more involved.

The Sun, Venus, Mercury and Mars are all in the sign of Leo during this Full Moon. The Sun is conjunct Venus, and this influence encourages social interactions and fun! It is a creative influence, one that could inspire you. The influence of these Leo planets suggests you might decide to take a break and enjoy the day or gather a group of friends for a night out.

Because all of these planets are in fixed signs, along with asteroid Vesta (which is in a t-square with the Sun and Moon), it’s important to keep an open mind and remain flexible, especially if difficult conversations arise. One of the best ways to do that is to lead with curiosity, rather than focusing on absolute rights and wrongs.

Vesta’s influence suggests you could feel the pressure of your responsibilities and obligations, despite your urge to relax and have fun. Because of this, you might feel as if you need to make some sort of sacrifice, or you could feel pressured to make a compromise. Leo encourages you to follow your heart and express your desires, but do so in manner considerate to others.

August Horoscopes

August Horoscopes

The past six weeks have been tumultuous, with Mercury retrograde, two eclipses, and more. This month will feel like a respite after that high-energy time. You’re likely still processing what’s shown up for you over the past few weeks. If you had any significant realizations about yourself or your relationships, you might still be determining what changes to make in your life. You can make wiser decisions now that the dust has settled a little, and the overall energy of this month is more relaxed.

The New Moon in Leo on July 31, kicks off the month a day early. It highlights the prominent Leo energy we’ll feel throughout most of the month.

When I think about the sign of Leo, I think about the symbolism of the lion. Recently, our friends returned from an African safari with all of these photos and videos of their adventures. Now, ordinarily, watching vacation videos wouldn’t be my cup of tea! But the videos they captured of lions were so good, and the lions’ behavior fascinated me. They were so playful! It was like watching my two cats when they’re in full play mode, swatting at one another and any feather toy nearby. Now, don’t get me wrong; those lions were fierce, protective, and powerful, too.

Watching these felines in action, I couldn’t help thinking a little more about the sign of Leo. Here are some of my observations:

  1. Leos have a lot of energy. We might call it creative energy, passion, or physical vigor. Unless expressed in productive ways, it can bottle up and turn in on itself, becoming anger or anger’s quiet cousin, depression.

  2. Leos don’t have to try to be powerful. They exude it. Therefore, they command attention, and others recognize them as leaders who stand out. Lions, too, inspire reverence, awe, and fear, from other animals (and people). It’s all in how they carry themselves. So, Leos ought not to feed insecure thoughts or feelings. Own your charisma, brilliance, and power!

  3. Leos are playful! Inside every Leo adult is a little kitten wanting to luxuriate, relax, and play. This quality can be expressed through art or other creative endeavors, as well as by lounging poolside.

  4. Leos love luxury. For lions in the wild, it’s lounging in the shaded grasses on a sunny day. For humans, it can be anything from a spa day to shopping to sharing a good meal with friends.

  5. Leos are loyal.

I encourage you to take a few lessons from Leo at the start of the month and let your heart take the lead. Use your creative, life-force energy in productive ways, own your brilliance, luxuriate, and stay loyal to your path.

Mercury Retrograde July 2019

Mercury Retrograde July 2019

It's that time again when Mercury begins to slow down and start its retrograde cycle. This phenomenon happens three or four times a year, and each retrograde cycle emphasizes different themes, depending on Mercury's sign and aspects to other planets. This time, it comes to a standstill in the sign of Leo and shifts back into Cancer on July 19 before stationing direct on July 31. Let's discuss the themes of this Mercury retrograde and tips for how to make the most of this time, sign by sign.

Mercury Retrograde, in General

Mercury retrograde is an optical illusion that happens three or four times a year when Mercury appears to be moving backward in the heavens from our vantage point on earth. When Mercury is retrograde, we have a chance to prioritize and focus on all things Mercury, including communication and communication devices, thoughts, ideas, contracts, learning, teaching, transportation, travel, and the details of everyday life. It's a time to finish business, but you could experience delays.

During Mercury retrograde periods, we look back on our lives, reflecting on the past. We encounter individuals who played significant roles in our lives, and we revisit those relationships.

Mercury retrograde is usually not a great time to sign contracts unless you've been in negotiations for a long time. In those cases, it could be a time for closure and completion.

You may discover things about yourself, your past, or others, and gain clarity about life circumstances. You could also work through your fears and limiting beliefs, the ones that hold you back from living your most purposeful life. In this respect, Mercury retrograde is a time for healing and for clearing obstacles along your path. It's a time to go deep, and you may feel more intuitive and sensitive to energy than usual.

July Horoscopes

July Horoscopes

Welcome to Cancer season, a time when we crave deeper connections, when our heartstrings are more easily tugged, and when our priorities shift from the outer world to the inner one. You will undoubtedly feel that tension this month, as two eclipses accentuate that Cancer/Capricorn axis. Cancer themes are home, family, emotions, and our ancestral roots. It’s the sign ruled by the moon, a symbol of all things yin, which includes the innermost creative and fertile aspects of the self. The opposite sign on that axis, Capricorn, symbolizes the ambitious, driven, striving, and public aspects of the self. It also relates to the structural systems of government, authority, economy, and institutions. For thousands of years, those systems have been patriarchal and kyriarchal, with hierarchical power structures that have their basis in leadership and governance through domination.

Well, all of this is changing! And the North Node in Cancer is helping us evolve in a new direction. So too, our relationships, families, and ideals are changing. You might be experiencing this in your life right now. We are all shifting, in transition, but without a real clear vision for where we will be by this time next year, after the Saturn/Pluto conjunction of 2020, which will be a big astrological influence we’ll all feel! (I’m going to be writing about that more this month.) Some of those 2020 themes will be foreshadowed here this month around the time of the eclipses on July 2 and 16.

A LOT is happening astrologically this month. It’s going to be especially exciting for Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. We start with the solar eclipse on July 2, a time of change and shakeup of any stagnant situation in your life. Connect with others and brainstorm about how to live a more expansive, open, and heart-centered life. You’ve got some big ideas and dreams right now. It’s not a time to hold back or let fear stand in the way.

Summer Solstice

Summer Solstice

When we celebrate the Summer Solstice, we celebrate the sun, its light and warmth— its power. It’s the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the point in the year when we have access to the sun’s full energy. It’s a celebration of abundance and also a time to be patient with anything still in progress and growing.

The Solstice is a fertile time, when the Earth shares her bounty. Like our ancestors, we can use this feast as a way to honor and thank the Earth for all she provides.

What seeds have you planted in your life? This is a time of illumination, when the sun has prominence in the sky, and you can see your path more clearly, including opportunities and potential challenges. It also represents a culmination of energy and a climax of sorts in your present storyline. It’s a fertile time in your life, too, and a time for the most creative expression of yourself.

At the Summer Solstice, the Sun moves into the sign of Cancer and marks the beginning of a new season. Cancer is one of four cardinal signs (along with Aries, Libra, and Capricorn), and cardinal signs emphasize initiating action and taking a step forward with intention. For the sign of Cancer, it’s taking action on behalf of whom or what you love, like a mother would do almost anything for her child. It’s this nurturing, compassionate, and protective love that compels our action during this season. No matter what sign under which you’re born, you’ll feel the Cancer vibe this season, and these themes will be prominent for you, too.

Because the North Node is in Cancer, our attention is already focused toward those themes: Family, nurturance, emotional connections, protecting what’s dear, and home. Remember, too, the Earth is home for all of us, and the Summer Solstice is a time to connect and align with the Earth.

July's Eclipses

July's Eclipses

Eclipses happen when the sun, moon, and earth line up with the lunar nodes, which are astrological destiny points.

The North Node symbolizes where we are focusing our attention, what matters to us, and where we’re reaching toward as a collective. The South Node symbolizes where we’re moving from, our past, our history, as well as any old or outdated ideas and beliefs. The transiting North Node signifies what we must integrate into our collective awareness if we are to grow as a society.

This year, the North Node is in the sign of Cancer, which relates to the home, family, security, mothering, emotions, and the divine feminine. These are themes you might see up in news, pop culture, social media, or in your own life.

The South Node is always exactly opposite the North Node. This year, it’s in Capricorn, the sign associated with authority, ambition, government, career, patriarchal ideals, and public life.

The eclipses punctuate those themes and the tension between the two.

Eclipses are like extra powerful full and new moons. Solar eclipses happen when the sun blocks the moon, and they occur during new moon phases. Lunar ones happen during full moon phases when the moon passes through the earth’s shadow.

During eclipses, things feel more intense, and that two weeks between the solar and lunar eclipse, that energy is palpable. I call this the eclipse tunnel because often, that’s how it feels- like you’re in this compressed period of time when all emotions, senses, your intuition, and awareness is heightened.

Solar eclipses can catalyze external change. There’s a shift of some kind in your life. Often, though, it takes time to manifest. It can be a sudden bang, but you’re more likely to see the full manifestation of that change evolve over several months. That time depends on how long the eclipse is visible and what factors in your natal chart are involved.

During a solar eclipse, you might have more restless energy, more momentum, and even some frustration. All of that energy is necessary because it motivates you to make changes in your life.

During a lunar eclipse, the shifts are generally internal and focus on your personal life, emotions, relationships, and family. You feel things internally, and you can become aware of aspects of your life that aren’t working for you. Because the nodes are involved, the eclipses offer you the chance to face some of your biggest fears and access the courage you need to take a step forward toward fulfilling your purpose and reaching your destiny.

During a lunar eclipse, you may have the realization you need to make a career or relationship change. Don’t feel as if you need to drop a bomb or make a sudden move. Instead, see the awareness as a first step in an unfolding process. One mistake I see people making is acting on that first impulse during an eclipse because things do feel more intense and you want to do something about it. You can do something- pay attention! Look for guidance in your dreams, in conversations with friends, or through connecting with a healer, therapist, or astrologer.

Realize, too, not all eclipses will affect you equally. So much of it depends on how the eclipse involves your chart.

Now, let’s talk about the two July eclipses.

June Horoscopes

June Horoscopes

June's astrology invites you to adopt a more flexible, progressive, and adaptive mindset. It challenges your ideas about what you know to be true. It urges you to ask questions -- to invoke your inner investigative journalist! We live in a time of transition, and you certainly see evidence of this in the collective. But you may feel this in your personal life as well. You are becoming even more aware of what's not working for you in relationships and all other areas of your life. You're becoming more conscious and aware of your soul's calling and deep desires. You could want to take action to make changes, but is it time? Seek more information and be open to surprises until June 21.

This month, you recognize the power of your voice, and as you activate courage, you can speak and live your truth without compromise. You have a heightened intuition, which amplifies awareness about possible pitfalls or precarious situations. As a result, you will feel prepared to protect and defend yourself and others dear to you. Just make sure you see all sides of a situation. Look at all the details before making an absolute assertion.

We start the month on a high note with a New Moon in Gemini, the sign of intellectual curiosity, on June 3. On this same day, Venus encourages us to ask questions and get to the root of relationship concerns.

As a guiding ritual, think of one recurring unpleasant thought you'd like to change. Write it down. Then, create an affirmation you'd rather hear in your mind and write that down. You could even write it on a post-it and attach it to your mirror. For two weeks, say this as a mantra. Set a reminder on your phone to say the affirmation aloud at least five times per day until it resonates deeply within you.

You could also set an intention for something you'd like to learn or teach. The beginning of the month is an excellent time to develop your mind in some new way. Your mental faculties will be at their best!

Things shift in the middle of the month, and we see a sneak preview of early 2020. On June 14, Mars, the warrior planet, opposes Saturn, the planet of authority and structure. You may have to ask yourself: To whom or what am I abdicating my power? In what ways am I allowing the structures of government, religion, family, corporation, or institutions define my identity? Everything is up for your awareness right now.

The Full Moon on June 17 helps you see things more clearly and gain faith if you have felt doubt or uncertainty regarding any circumstance in your life.

Soon afterward, Mars opposes Pluto on June 20. This combination could set off fireworks long before the Fourth of July! If your relationships or other areas of your life have felt lackluster or blah, this transit wakes you up to your potential in all ways. A surge of passion could lead you to make bold moves forward in your life; no holds barred!

The Summer Solstice starts the next day, June 21. Any solstice or equinox point marks the Sun's transition into a cardinal sign. (Aries and Libra for the equinox points; Cancer and Capricorn for the solstice points.) Cardinal signs emphasize initiative on behalf of a great need, for yourself, your family, on behalf of love, or community. The Sun's ingress into Cancer invites us to balance polarity within ourselves and the social paradigm. It's an awakening of the most yin, creative, and prolific aspects of yourself and our culture.

Pay attention to what unfolds in your life between June 14-June 21. These will serve as foreshadows, and you will see some complex connections taking shape in your life over the next six months.

I encourage you to take advantage of these transits. Is there anything you've been resisting or afraid to try, say, or do? As long as it doesn't intentionally harm others and it serves the highest good, go for it! Be brave in your life, and your courage will ripple change in the world.

May Horoscopes

May Horoscopes

This month, we take a look back as a collective and ask ourselves: How could we have done better? Pluto, and Saturn are retrograde, and these two planets hold the major themes for this year and early next year.

When the outer planets go retrograde, we usually feel the influence on a collective level more than a personal one. The Pluto retrograde cycle lasts five months; it stations direct on October 3. Whenever inner planets (Mercury, Venus, and Mars) go retrograde, we tend to experience the influence in our day-to-day lives. The outer planets present general themes we look at as a collective. They bring us full-circle in many ways or help shift our consciousness about matters related to that planet.

Specifically, Pluto in Capricorn shines a light on corruption, institutional wrongdoing and oppression, and deceit. As Pluto moves retrograde, we might have the chance to bring some of these issues to light.

Saturn, the planetary police officer, is also retrograde, and they’re both in the same sign. The good news is: If you’ve been working hard and staying focused on something, you have manifesting power right now! Saturn likes to reward hard work and diligence, but it also wants to make sure you’re being authentic to yourself in the process. Otherwise, it might nudge you back on track.

Pluto retrograde is a time to reevaluate the power dynamics in your relationships. If you have been involved in a relationship that has an element of control or possessiveness, you could find ways to free yourself from those patterns, if not the relationship, itself. If you have been obsessing about a person or a past situation, Pluto invites you to surrender and let go.

If you have planets around 19˚ - 23˚ of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, you will feel the influence of these planets more intensely than others. So, don’t give up, no matter how challenging the test of faith.

On May 4, the new moon in Taurus invites you to set realistic intentions and plant seeds (literally or metaphorically). It encourages you to be patient, as anything you start will take time to manifest. It will be lasting, though.

Pluto Retrograde April 24 - October 2, 2019

When the outer planets go retrograde, we usually feel the influence on a collective level more than a personal one. The Pluto retrograde cycle lasts five months, from April - October.

Whenever inner planets (Mercury, Venus, and Mars) go retrograde, we tend to experience the influence in our day-to-day lives. The outer planets present general themes we look at as a collective. They bring us full-circle in many ways or help shift our consciousness about matters related to that planet. For Pluto, those are matters of power, desire, the unconscious aspects of the self, transmutation, and regenerative process.

Pluto helps reveal what has been hidden or to bring subconscious matters into the light. So, you could recall memories from childhood that left an imprint and still affect your relationships today. Retrograde cycles allow us to press the “rewind” button on our lives, and we get the chance to revisit the past. Sometimes, you might even have the opportunity to remake a decision, doing things differently this time around.

This is a time to heal. I advise working with a therapist or healer to face your inner demons or unpack your deepest relationship fears.

If you have been keeping a secret from your partner and it’s eating you up inside, you will feel freer coming clean during this retrograde cycle. Likewise, if you feel suspicious about anything your partner has said or done, try not to jump to conclusions. You could be picking up on something, but it might not be what it seems. Lead with curiosity, and ask questions to find out more.

This particular Pluto retrograde cycle will hopefully help us call out corruption on every level. Because Pluto is in Capricorn, we will likely see some restructuring of institutions, especially ones based on outdated patriarchal ideals. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t see more scandals coming to light over the next five months. This retrograde period feels like another time to clean house in many ways.

If you have planets around 19˚ - 23˚ of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, you will feel this influence more intensely than others.

April Horoscopes

April Horoscopes

The sun in Aries motivates us to take a risk, advance forward, and start new beginning. It’s no coincidence Aries season is also springtime here in the Northern Hemisphere, when blossoms are bursting open, and new life abounds. I will post this on April Fool’s Day, April 1. I think of the Fool card in the tarot deck. It looks like this:

The Fool card represents a soul incarnating, and each card in the Major Arcana explains a different aspect of human life the Fool must encounter on its way to enlightenment. The Fool in the card has everything it needs (symbolized by the bag it carries), a white rose to express spiritual innocence, and a loyal guardian symbolized by the dog. The Fool has wisdom packed into its pouch, and it looks upward toward the heavens as it walks forward. It’s not “foolish” as we might think of it; rather, the term “fool” implies the absence of fear and the willingness to step into the unknown.

Consider stepping into April with this same spirit. Be open to adventure, willing to keep looking up, and trusting in the universe to guide and protect you along the way.

Before you take a step off the proverbial cliff and into the new unknown, you may have to clear some karma, face fears, and do some letting go. Because of that, you could feel as if you’re taking one big step forward... only to stand still, catch your breath, reassess, and do some releasing/letting go.

Mercury Retrograde

Mercury Retrograde

It’s that time again; Mercury is retrograde. It stations retrograde at 10:19 am on March 5th at 29˚39 Pisces. This one will be a doozy! I’ll give you a little insight about what it could mean for you as well as offer a few tips to help you gracefully move through these three weeks.

When the planet of communication appears to come to a standstill and begin to move backward, it steals the celestial show. It commands attention, and in doing so, it calls us all to look at our Mercury-related stuff. How are you communicating with others? Do you hold back for fear of conflict? Do others perceive you to be too abrasive? Do you get a little passive aggressive from time to time? Circumstances in your life could show up to help you remedy some of these behaviors, and you won’t have a choice. You will have to face some fears, feel some doubts, and consider changing your ways.

With this one, in particular, we have to be real with ourselves and others. If you have been authentic in any way, you might have to come clean and reveal the truth about yourself. In that, you will liberate yourself and detox your psyche. It takes a lot of psychic energy to keep a secret or hold a lie. It is also energetically draining to sense intuitively when someone close to you holds back. Be brave in asking for the truth from others. Secrets can also be toxic to your system.

Communication devices may go haywire. You could spill water on your keyboard, for example, or drop your phone in the toilet. Mercury can be a little trickster, and so it tends to get your attention in not-so-subtle ways. If something like this happens, know there is a deeper significance, and thank Mercury for the heads-up! For example, if you have needed a break from work, your computer might break. Or if you have been feeling disconnected from others, your wifi might glitch. After all, nothing makes you appreciate your connections than being off the grid for a brief time! If water spills on your keyboard, ask: Am I afraid to express my emotions? Or: Have I sent an email in the heat of the moment when I could have waited a few minutes to cool down?

Chiron

Before it stations retrograde, Mercury moves closer to Chiron, the little dwarf planet of the wounded healer. In the days leading up to Mercury retrograde, you might start to feel pangs of hurt, sadness, grief, or other emotions. You might have memories of times when someone from the past hurt you or traumatic events in your life. You might also feel remorse for times in which you hurt others.

During Mercury retrograde cycles, we have a chance to go inward and reflect on your life. In doing so, we can gain perspective to help forgive ourselves and others. It’s especially important to reframe your victim stories to see yourself as a powerful person. Sometimes, just giving voice to your story is enough. At other times, only therapeutic processes can help.

This is a healing time. A clearing time.

Dazed and Confused

This month, you could feel as if you’re walking through a haze, unclear about situations in your life or your direction. Relationships could feel off, and you could question the big decisions you’ve made throughout your life. Try not to take it all too seriously or make bold moves, like quitting your job on a whim or leaving your partner in the heat of an argument. Also, try not to obsess or ruminate about small things, or make more of a situation than it is.

It’s a cycle, and it, too, shall pass.

Guilt, regret, remorse, and shame have to rise to the surface so you can clear them from your energy field once and for all. If you feel any of these emotions, journal, talk to a therapist or good friend, or see a healer. You don’t need to hold on to the past; let it go.

Tips for Each Sign

Here are some Mercury retrograde survival tips for you!

March Horoscopes

March Horoscopes

We enter a new seven-year cycle of change and progress this month as Uranus enters Taurus on March 6. If you are born during the first three days of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius, or if your moon or rising sign are at the early degrees of fixed signs, prepare yourself for significant turning points in life that will manifest over the next three months. Because of this transition, I can guarantee this will not be a boring month for any of us!

Uranus moves into a new sign every seven years, and we see technological advances and progress in the fields associated with that sign. In Taurus, that means environmental, textiles, currency and the economy, earth and even seismic shifts, possessions, and goods. You can read more about this cycle here.

In addition to this planetary shift, we are also in a Mercury retrograde cycle from March 5-28 in the other-worldly sign of Pisces. Mercury rules mental processes, and with its placement in Pisces, you have the chance to deeply explore the creative and spiritual dimensions of yourself. At the same time, you could feel foggy, unclear about circumstances in your life. You may question others’ motives or doubt your intuition. You could feel as if a cloud hangs overhead blocking the light. The concept of the dark night of the soul explains a period of emotional intensity in which you feel a painful separation from God and others. Alone. During those moments of doubt, you dig deep within yourself to connect with your divine spark, and in doing so, you arrive at faith. If you have moments like these this month, understand they may be critical turning points in your life, and keep going! Often, these crisis points loosen the ego's grip, helping you break down fear-based structures. That process of surrender helps you open energetic space for a new beginning or manifestation.

January’s eclipses provided an intense start to 2019. February is a time to ground and center as the eclipse energy subsides. Several planets in earth signs (Venus, Saturn, Pluto, and later Mars) can help support you in taking practical steps forward in your life this month, but they encourage you to do so with caution.

Your attention may be focused on love and relationships, with Valentine’s Day in the middle of the month. Venus, the planet dedicated to romance, shines in careful Capricorn from February 3 on, making this a time to make careful choices in your love life. If your relationship is rock solid, you can make plans and set intentions together, especially at the time of the new moon on February 4. On February 18 and 22, you could have two chances to rethink your relationship dynamics and make changes to have more satisfying and healthy bonds.

The full moon on February 19 opens your access to imagination. Your dreams may offer guidance or symbolism relating to your life. Notice any creative impulses, and indulge them. You could be receiving a calling to live up to your highest potential, and creativity is a key to gain access to that information.

The moon’s placement in Virgo is excellent for cleaning, organizing, decluttering, or taking a detox. You could also feel more aware of criticism than usual. Therefore, be gentle with your loved ones, and find constructive ways to offer feedback to avoid seeming judgmental.

January Horoscopes

This month will feature several transits that set the stage for 2019. Therefore, take note of your life circumstances, how you feel, and what inspires you to make a change. You may not have definite answers about next steps, though. So, observe without judgment, talk things through with people you trust, and find space to tune out the collective noise. These circumstances and the concurrent reflections will offer clues about how to navigate the path ahead. That’s perhaps the greatest gift of this month: You have a window to peek through to access your higher consciousness. It’s time to experience your truth.

You could feel ups and downs. For example, you could have sudden fears about the economy followed by optimism about your future. These shifting currents invite you to hold space for all possibilities in your life and to dwell in the complexity of both/and thinking. You’re just riding the waves of an intense period on either side of two eclipses — a Solar Eclipse on January 5 and a Lunar one on January 21. Eclipses can awaken an internal signal that it’s time to change some aspect of your life. If you are a Cancer, Libra, Aries, or Capricorn Sun, Moon, or Rising, these will especially affect you.

Jupiter steals the show as the star of our astrological play this month and again throughout 2019. As the planet of expansion, it tends to place a giant spotlight on an area of your chart. For Sagittarius, this can be a very favorable influence! You may experience “lucky” circumstances, or have a greater sense of ease in accomplishing anything you dare to dream. Jupiter in a fire sign also supports Aries and Leo throughout the year.

On January 13, we encounter a tricky transit, with Jupiter square Neptune. The optimism of Jupiter meets up with the idealism of Neptune. However, they are challenging one another, and you will need to stay grounded in the practical to avoid a bubble burst later in the year. For some of you, this transit could be that burst, since it occurs in the eclipse tunnel when the energy is ripe for transformation. Pisces, Virgo, and Gemini will feel this influence the most.

On January 22, Venus teams up with Jupiter in Sagittarius, making this a pleasant, romantic day. This energy will be especially enjoyable for Sagittarius, Aries, and Leo.

Astrological highlights of 2019:

2019 closes out this decade, and some of the most significant transits set the stage for 2020, which will energetically loom over us. Because of this, 2019 could feel like a transitional year, one in which you will either open or close a chapter in life. Moving through any transitional time, it helps to ground your energy through dedicated spiritual practices, physical exercise, or designating one person in your life to be your "reality check." If you can maintain pragmatic optimism, 2019 will be your year!

Jupiter is one of the biggest stars in our astrological story this year. The planet of luck, expansion, and faith, is in its own sign of Sagittarius. It wants us to go all out, and it can fool us into thinking anything is possible! So, you could overcommit, spread yourself too thin, or overestimate your projected income versus your expenses. Instead, focus on your top priorities so you can end the year feeling accomplished, and make wise financial choices. There are several indicators of an uncertain economy this year and in 2020.

The first month of the year will feature most of the themes you'll encounter in 2019. We start with an eclipse, the first of five total this year, on January 5 in Capricorn. Eclipses present us with new information, often unrealized or hidden truth. Sometimes, they deliver our marching orders from the universe for the fulfillment of our life's mission. This first one is close to Saturn, the planetary police officer, which gives it a serious tone. It could amplify your ambition and push you back to work after the holiday break. You could also learn news of financial or professional matters that could shift your storyline. On January 21, the lunar eclipse in Aquarius asks us to revisit themes from 2018 and ask: Did I make the right decision? Accept the past, and keep your awareness on what healthy, life-enhancing changes you can make in the present. Keep in mind: The two weeks between eclipses can feel very intense! The North Node in Cancer encourages you to feel your feeling-- the joy, sadness, anger, and all.

Cancer North Node 2018

“There’s no place like home.” This may be our mantra over the next 18 months as the nodal axis shifts from Leo/Aquarius to Cancer/Capricorn. The North Node will be right at home in the sign of Cancer. The North Node symbolizes our point of focus for the next 18 months. It’s like our “North Star” as a collective, but being that, we could be pushed beyond our comfort zones with regard to anything Cancer related in our lives. More on that in a minute.

What is the North Node? The Lunar Nodes (North and South) are invisible points at which the moon’s orbital path crosses the Sun’s path on the celestial sphere (the ecliptic). Therefore, the nodes are the connecting points between the expressive, yang energies of the sun with the receptive, yin energies of the moon. The balance between yin and yang makes these magical points where you can experience absolute creative potentiality and the manifestation of desire. When triggered by a transiting planet or eclipse (the eclipse cycles happen in conjunction with the nodes),

So, the Nodes are powerful, and you have them your natal chart. In your natal chart, they represent your destiny. The South Node symbolizes where you came from and what feels familiar and comfortable. The North Node represents your point of destiny in this lifetime and where you find fulfillment through growth. It’s that point right beyond your comfort zone that feels uncomfortable but brings your soul a level of satisfaction beyond the ego’s desires.

Your nodal axis in your birth chart represents this as a tug-of-war in your life. You may move back and forth along that axis throughout your life. You swing out wide, take a risk, and move into North Node territory, and then you contract back to the familiarity of the South Node. And repeat. (Depending on other factors in your chart, of course.)

When the nodes change signs, though, we all have a chance to focus our collective attention on the tension between the two signs on that axis line. Starting November 7, the tension will be between Capricorn and Cancer.

We are turning away from Capricorn, which is the sign of professional ambition, industry, public reputation, rules, structure, and the father. We could even say it’s the sign most closely associated with patriarchy. And we are turning toward Cancer.

Cancer themes include home, family, emotions, intuition, receptivity, protection of the tribe, security, and nurturance. We will see our priorities as a culture shift toward community and connection. We will have more emphasis on emotions and intuition.

We could experience a rise in the gender-related tension that has already been up for us as patriarchal structures and ideals lose power and people wake up to the injustice of the abuse of power inherent in those institutions of government, religion, and even family.

When the nodes change signs, our eclipse cycles run along those axis lines as well. Therefore, if you are a Cancer, Capricorn, Libra, or Aries, watch for the eclipses from now until early 2020.
