May Horoscopes
We can look at every transit this year under the backdrop of the Saturn square Uranus transit that is the ongoing theme for this time. Saturn, the planet of tradition, is challenging Uranus, the planet of the future. Saturn is structure, while Uranus isn’t just outside the box— it wants to break the box down. We kick off May with the Sun conjunct Uranus, stirring up these themes. We could feel pulled in different directions. Things might feel unsettled, erratic. Change is in the air, but we don’t know quite what that means.
Mercury enters Gemini on May 3, and our ideas feel inspired. We want to learn, to share our knowledge with others, and to discuss ideas with others. Venus enters Gemini on May 8, adding to this impulse for mental acrobatics. We are curious and seeking. The North Node in Gemini already highlights this theme of curiosity. We are learning that wisdom can be gained by seeing ourselves as perpetual students. In doing so, we become more open to hearing new perspectives.
Jupiter, the planet of wisdom, faith, and higher learning, enters Pisces. Jupiter’s the traditional ruler of Pisces, and the biggest planet in our solar system is right at home in its sign. Jupiter dips into Pisces only for a couple of months before it goes retrograde back into Aquarius. It enters Pisces again in December. For the next few months, we will see values of compassion, especially for those who are suffering from illness. Pisces is the sign associated with healthcare and vaccines. We will likely see movements to make covid vaccinations available in all parts of the world.
Jupiter’s entry into Pisces could open up travel. Jupiter’s influence offers hope and optimism after the trying two years as Jupiter’s been moving through Saturn signs (Capricorn and Aquarius). This could be a time of embodying more manifestation power as well. We can adjust our expectations away from disappointment and toward desired outcomes, though the last year may have made us all a little weary about hope.
The Sun enters Gemini on May 20, and it leads us to the Lunar Eclipse on May 26. This is an eclipse for examining our beliefs. Which ones are no longer serving us? Which ones no longer feel true? Be open-minded, and explore new ideas.
The Lunar Eclipse feels very spiritual, especially with the involvement of a Neptune conjunct Pallas transit. Chiron will favorably aspect the North and South Nodes on May 6, setting a tone for whatever healing needs to occur to allow you to live a a more purposeful life. We feel most purpose when we’re living in the present moment- when we are aware of our body’s needs, connecting with those we love, and being open to experiencing joy.
Gemini season is playful. Mercury stations retrograde on May 29, reminding us not to take life too seriously. Of course, back up your computer, charge your phone, and be careful driving. But also, play. Take time to bond with friends, build community, and gather people together to celebrate life’s successes. End the month by letting joy be your mantra— your spiritual practice.
