September Horoscopes

OVERVIEW OF THE MONTH

September brings us back to school, metaphorically speaking. Mars in Cancer squares Saturn in Aries on September 1, with both planets in challenging signs. Frustrations could build, and tensions could lead to disruptive decisions until the Virgo New Moon at 18˚ Virgo, 25’ on September 10. That same day, Venus enters Scorpio, and Mercury enters Libra, shifting the energies for the rest of the month. This lunation comes as a welcome reprieve, with a grand trine between Mercury in Libra, Pluto in Aquarius, and Uranus in Gemini. Our minds are sharp and ready to problem-solve. This lunation offers opportunities to improve our communication and to express our ideas more effectively. Follow your curiosity, and learn all you can. Then, share your knowledge with others.

Neptune and Pluto have their second exact sextile of the year, both retrograde this time. The paiThe pair has had exact sextiles in the periods from 1950 to 1956, and again from 1976 to 1986. These were periods of socioeconomic change. The Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States heightened tensions between communism and capitalism. We saw the development of the thermonuclear bomb, nuclear power, and the space race.

In the 1980s, we saw a rise in capitalism and free market economics. We also saw the first Space Shuttle, which was built upon the efforts of the space race in the 1950s. The 1979 Three Mile Island accident and the 1986 Chornobyl disaster showed the disastrous consequences of nuclear technology that had grown during the last Neptune-Pluto period.

As we begin this next period, nuclear power is again at the forefront of many minds. We could see further developments in this industry, as we did in both previous cycles. Watch for news about relations between the USA and Russia around September 15. Also, since capitalism was a theme both times, and it’s been the predominant economic system in the USA, we could see some shifting narratives about this structure. These transits give us a preview of wider socioeconomic conditions and themes that will carry us into 2033.

Chiron moves back into Aries on September 17, finishing its mentorship of emerging leaders and those who’ve been afraid to use their voices. This transit comes as a final push before the planetoid returns to Taurus in 2027. It joins Saturn and Neptune in evoking the light and shadow aspects of Aries. In doing so, it motivates us to test out new ideas, venture to unexplored destinations, and courageously pursue our dreams. At the same time, it reminds us we’re not alone, even when we feel lonely.

The ingress chart for September 22, 2026, features Chiron rising at 29˚ ♈︎ 48’, suggesting this quarter offers us opportunities to o The Sun is in a quincunx aspect to Chiron, indicating that we must let go of something to be available for something more aligned.

Jupiter in Leo rests in a quintile aspect with Uranus in Gemini and a bi-quintile with Chiron in Aries, showing we can access our creative genius once we do the Chiron task of accepting our lives – painful memories and all – and letting art and beauty be our guideposts. The Sun in Libra is also quintile Venus in Scorpio, adding harmony to our creative efforts. We may start the quarter with bright ideas and the willingness to try them.

The Moon is in Aquarius at the moment of ingress, foreshadowing the community-minded thread that will run through the next three months. The Aquarius Moon indicates that any of those ideas come with a sense of how we as individuals fit within the larger context of our communities and the groups we’re a part of.

Considering the complex symbolism of this chart, the Sabian Symbol for the ascendant degree for the ingress in Washington, D.C., seems poignant. The image for 26˚-27˚ Aries is: through imagination, a lost opportunity is regained. We may feel hopeful heading into this quarter. The North Node in the house of politics shows the momentum building for the Midterm elections in the United States.

The Aries Full Moon on September 26 highlights the axis between the self and others, and with Mars at the last degree of Cancer for the lunation chart, there could be some heated conversations or passionate encounters.

Mars enters Leo on September 27, emboldening us to assert ourselves or create something remarkable. We close the month with a drive we haven’t had in several weeks.
