October Horoscopes

OVERVIEW OF THE MONTH

Venus turns retrograde on October 3 at 8˚ ♏️ 29’, and she won't station direct until November 13 – after the Midterm Elections. Pay attention to this one, because, in addition to the Libra Sun (until October 22), both of this month's lunations answer to Venus. Not only is she in a challenging sign, but she’s also going backward. When Venus isn’t happy, we have to go out of our way to bring pleasure into life. We may not have as much spontaneous enjoyment, and financial concerns can add to the stress. Venus in Scorpio indicates a willingness to refocus our priorities and commit to anything aligned with our core values, even if that means walking away from other things.

The Libra New Moon on October 10, at 17˚ ♎︎ 21’, provides an opportunity to reevaluate relationships, especially partnerships. It’s a lunation for setting intentions for the kind of love you want to experience. (Hint: it starts with how you accept and treat yourself!)

In matters of the heart, making a decision this month could lead to a change of course in December. In financial matters, think: slow and steady wins the race. It’s not a month for get-rich-quick ideas or speculative investments unless you know what you’re doing and have confidence in your skills. Remain cautiously optimistic as we head toward Scorpio season on October 23.

Mercury also stations retrograde at 20˚ ♏️ 59’, joining Venus. Past relationships, former business partners, and old arguments may surface for you. Both retrograde cycles make for a more confusing October, with uncertainty about commitments you were sure would last. Steady yourself amid turbulent emotional waters. Achieve peace through activities that nourish your soul, such as reading poetry, spending time in nature, or listening to music.

Venus moves back into Libra on October 25, and by the end of the month, we’re thinking about characteristics such as people-pleasing and codependency, or arrogance and extreme attachment styles. Hold off on giving a relationship ultimatum or overspending. If a deal won’t close when you expect it, stay patient. Give yourself and others more time.

The Taurus Full Moon on October 26, at 2˚ ♉︎ 45’, forms a t-square with Pluto for a temperamental lunation. Mars in Leo moves closer to Jupiter, and Jupiter moves closer to the South Node, suggesting there could be upsetting news headlines or personal drama that drains our optimism. However, with asteroid Astraea in a separating conjunction with the North Node, we may be focused on what helps us feel freer in our lives. Imagining those possibilities can inspire positivity.
