OVERVIEW OF THE MONTH

The Scorpio New Moon on November 9, at 16˚53’, brings us a new beginning after the Midterm Elections. The Sabian Symbol for this lunation is a woman, fecundated by her own spirit, is great with child. This image reveals the creative power we have access to when we connect with the divine spark within ourselves. Elections remind us that many have lost trust in institutions or political systems. However, this lunation invites us to consider how we, as individuals, contribute to those systems. That even our inaction is a contribution. Use this New Moon to dance with conflict and reinforce your boundaries. Know what you’re willing to advocate for and defend.

On November 11, Jupiter meets the South Node at 25˚ Leo. Jupiter has spent months hovering near this point, unable to hand out its usual abundance so freely, and now the conjunction is exact. If some recognition or opportunity you expected didn’t materialize, loosen your grip and free up some mental space. Three days later, on November 14, Mars catches up to both Jupiter and the South Node, inspiring courage and fortitude. If you are enthusiastic about a project, you may be more motivated to put in effort. Otherwise, take a break and wait until the skies clear.

Mercury and Venus both station direct on November 13, and the fog that hovered over the last six weeks starts to lift. You may find it easier to converse about deep subjects, and decisions about money and relationships that appeared impossible in October come back into focus. Give yourself a few more days past the station before you act on anything significant.

From November 11-16, we will see shocking shifts in the existing power structures. Election results may be final (including recounts), and there will be game-changing upsets. The South Node has a draining effect, and when it meets Mars and Jupiter, we may see a loss of power among people who have embodied the shadow sides of Leo. Hubris, arrogance, and narcissism are three shadow aspects of the South Node in Leo. Of course, there are wonderful Leo traits, but when we talk about the South Node, we are referring to the more challenging qualities.

The Sun enters Sagittarius on November 22, and the mood lifts with it. We enter a time of renewed faith. The Full Moon in Gemini follows two days later, on November 24, at 2 ˚20’. Plans reach points of clarity, and we can stop avoiding difficult conversations.

On November 29, Uranus forms a trine aspect to Pluto for the second time this year. The revolutionary instinct that once fueled rallies and demonstrations now builds through conversations and coalitions. This transit brings us back to the 1960s Uranus-Pluto conjunction and the 2012-2015 square that gave us Occupy Wall Street and the height of Black Lives Matter. This trine asks what liberation looks like today, and some of the themes from the conjunction could resurface for us.
